Joart Kabeya
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
-
Joart L'eau Kabeya is a Contemporary Figurative Artist painter by profession, born in Lubumbashi City on in 1998. Graduated in Plastic Art at Fine Art Institute.
Painting and drawing are for me a great passion, a madness, a self-discovery, and a spiritual expression of what I am. I began my professional solo career in 2018 (DR Congo), and have participated in several local and international groups’ art exhibitions.
My works are committed to being the voice of the voiceless, exploiting themes speaking about all forms of vulnerabilities (economic, political, social) that disturbed the progress of the development of the contemporary African man in his society, driven by a vision to make cultivate a taste for contemporary plastic art but also to show to my spectators the health portrait of its society so that they can develop an awareness of its own condition and the multiple realities of its environment.

Coffee-Sukarism
Burnt Sugar and Ink on Canvas Paper
-
Sukari means “Sugar” in his mother tongue (Swahili), and the coffee colour is obtained from burnt sugar mixed with wood glue.
The use of burnt sugar in his artistic practice as a basic texture of paintings allows him to understand better the passage of time and the search for the truth which guides him through questions on the identity of the evolution of the Contemporary African man in his society and its culture.
