FRANCE

Coryne Boyer

  • Growing up on Reunion Island, I developed a passion for drawing at a young age, often inspired by Boris Vallejo's illustrations. Dreaming of studying fine arts, I faced the challenge of lacking an art school on my island. As an adult juggling work and family, I persisted in my artistic pursuits, sketching whenever I could amid daily responsibilities.

In 1999, a temporary move to Paris provided a breakthrough when I had the opportunity to train in layout and design at the renowned Gobelins school. Returning home, I found my true calling: to capture and celebrate the beauty of my island through my art.

Using a simple black biro, I fill countless A4 sheets with intricate landscapes, focusing on light and shadow rather than color. Drawing inspiration from films like "The Night of the Hunter" and "Princes and Princesses," I aim to convey the richness of contrasts and shapes.

Looking ahead, I envision enhancing my black-and-white drawings in two ways: adding color to some and producing high-quality prints of others. I aspire to establish a studio where I can create large-scale works, exhibit my art, and host workshops, envisioning it as a welcoming space blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors.
