Diego Valentinuzzi
ITALY
-
Born in 1953 at Monfalcone. After attending the three-year course at the “State High School for Arts and Craft”, his artistic career began in 1974 when he met the Roman painter Giordano Giurina who convinced Valentinuzzi to pay him several visits to the capital city of Rome until 1976.
Here he studied fine art and chromatology-the study of colour. Then going back to his birth town, he constantly worked together with art and design studios making a tromp l'oeil, various decorations for American bars, discos, and cruise liners.
It was essential for him to have met different gallerists who publicized his works through television auctions promoting his works all over Northern Italy. Moreover, for about twenty years, Valentinuzzi has been collaborating to promote and exhibit the works by artists from the Friuli Venezia Giulia in Venice at the art galleries of the Scoletta San Zaccaria and the Old Palace of Prisons in Venice.
He has also collaborated with the art critic Vito Sutto for the television programme “Il segno e il colore” (The sign and the colour) broadcast on Telefriuli Channel.
Among the most important exhibitions, we have to remember his presence at the 53rd Biennal of Venice curated by Daniel Birnbaum and the 55th Biennal with the art direction of Massimiliano Gioni. In the last edition The Biennal dedicated a full page to this artist on the general catalogue.
