Jenny Carola Dussan Charry

COLOMBIA

  • My name is Jenny Carola Dussan Charry. I was born in Neiva, Huila, Colombia, on September 30, 1978. I am a Financial Administrator by profession, but I have had a passion for art, sculpture, and painting since I was very young. Over 11 years ago, I learned the art of working with paraffin, and since then, I have been teaching and promoting this beautiful art form. Initially, I shared it within my country, and later, I participated in various national and international fairs, giving interviews on television and providing small demonstrations of how paraffin art is created. I have also conducted seminars in both my country and internationally.

I had the opportunity to participate in several international exhibitions. One notable event was being selected among many Colombian artists to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Picasso in Málaga, Spain, with my paraffin artwork titled "El hombre en el Mundo Actual" (Man in the Current World). Following this, I presented 10 works in Cartago Valle, Colombia, at the "Expo Latina de Arte Colombia V EDICION 2023 Contemporánea," alongside numerous national and international artists.

I have now been selected to participate in the 5th Biennale of Contemporary Art in Salerno, Italy. Five of my works were submitted for the curators to choose from, and they selected the piece that was previously showcased in Málaga, Spain. This artwork will be exhibited in the Historic Palace of Salerno, Italy.

We have promoted paraffin art internationally, making an appearance at the grand master international exhibition with the Universal Brush Society and at Both Worlds of the Universal Brush. I became the first Colombian to be part of the "El Futuro" (The Future) competition and exhibition, organized by the Janaritta Armooti Gallery in association with the Embassy of India-Amman, where I won the first prize, a gold medal, and was recognized as the best Colombian artist with my paraffin art.

This year, I participated in the BIAF, the Busan International Art Festival in South Korea. I also took part in the "Uniendo Fronteras con Maestros del Arte en Brasil" (Uniting Borders with Art Masters in Brazil). My work "La Reina Hindu" (The Hindu Queen) was exhibited at the Casa Museo Grau in the capital of my country, Bogotá, Colombia. Additionally, I participated in the exhibition "Despertar Conciencia" (Awakening Consciousness) in Costa Rica from April 22-26, and in the International Exhibition in Bhopal, India, online (special for Earth Day) from April 20-21, 2024.
