A Self-Taught Watercolor Artist & Urban Sketcher
The artist completed her early education in Germany and high school in İskenderun. She graduated from Akdeniz University, Burdur Vocational School (Mechanical-Drawing-Construction) in 1987 and Gazi University, Gazi Education Faculty (English Language Teaching) in 1992. During her first academic year, she took elective courses in Art History and Painting under Cengiz Savaş, Faculty of Fine Arts lecturer. Influenced by watercolor artist Sabri Akça in 1997, she turned her focus to watercolor art.
Throughout her teaching career, she participated in numerous group exhibitions in Ankara, Nevşehir, İskenderun, İzmir, İzmit, and İstanbul. Her works were displayed at festivals and competitions organized by the International Watercolor Society (IWS) in countries such as Ukraine, Albania, England, Türkiye, Poland, and Switzerland. Notable milestones include attending the Urbansketchers Symposium in Amsterdam (2019), a workshop in Paris (2019), and being featured as an Exhibition Catalogue Artist at the Fabriano in Aquarello Festival (2020).
During the pandemic, she joined online exhibitions, auctions, and social responsibility projects. In 2021, she exhibited at ArtAnkara and ArtContact Contemporary Art Fair. She actively participated in events like the IWS Türkiye 11th Anniversary in İzmir (2023), the USK Poland Plein-Air Sketching Event (2023), and the IWS Germany Mini Festival in Essen (2024). In April 2024, she joined the Fabriano in Watercolor Festival in Bologna, where she was selected as a Fabriano in Aquarello Artist. Her work was also showcased at the Contemporary Art Fair in Bodrum (2024).
Her art focuses on capturing ancient buildings, statues, and stone objects, employing unique watercolor techniques to evoke the texture and realism of stone. She also paints natural scenes, boats, old wooden houses, colorful wild birds, and cats in her distinctive style.
She is an active member of IWS (International Watercolor Society), ART-IST (Istanbul Watercolour Society), Fabriano in Aquarelle, and Urbansketchers Türkiye.
