Mildred N. Mistal

“Transforming pain of a tormented life into ecstatic beauty. Pain is easy to portray, but to use your passion and pain to portray the ecstacy and joy and magnificence of our world, is the mark of a truly great artist.”- Dr. WhoMildred Narzoles Mistal is a young filipino visual artist from Marinduque and currently residing in Pasig,Philippines. She studied architecture at Mapua University but the call of the Muse was irresistable that she pursued and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts major in Visual Communication from the Philippine Women's University in Manila. Mildred is a member of Pasig Art Club and has exhibited consistently for the past six years.
People’s perception of pain and suffering, imperfection, impermanence and melancholy has always fascinated Mildred such that her works in abstraction are characterized by incompleteness of the human figure, and her painting style reflected in the expressive brush flow, movement, depth, texture and colors became more an expression of life in full color in one fluid brush stroke.
Her paintings are motivated by emotion, a subject, a moment, an event, or an emotional state and emotional raptures. Some of her artistic influences are abstract pioneers like Wassily Kandinsky with his conceptual and composition genius, the poetic intensity, depth and chaos of Joan Mitchell's works and the raptures of Jose Joya's textures and movement in the canvas. Most of her works have been inspired by finding beauty in brokenness, human frailties, cultural and life philosophies, experiences, poetry, music and spirituality. -
